The iOcean X8, the elegant octacore smartphone from iOcean, received an update that resolves a problem in the management of the touchscreen, which caused ghost touch and other inaccuracies.
The update is still based on Android 4.2.2, but as you know the smartphone will be later updated to Android 4.4 KitKat, which is already available a beta. If you have already installed the beta, this update will bring your smartphone back to the 4.2, as you will see in the video guide.
Our full review of the iOcean X8 will be published next week, in the meantime we leave you the unboxing video and some comparative articles we have made.

Guide: Update iOcean X8 via flash tool
To update your smartphone you will need:
- A computer with the MediaTek ADB VCOM drivers installed, downloadable from here;
- iOcean X8 with charged battery and USB-Micro USB cable;
- Flashtool V5 distributed by iOcean, downloadable here;
- The update for iOcean X8, downloadable from here.
Before starting the flash procedure, make sure that your computer is connected to a power supply or that it has a sufficiently charged battery. As an operating system I recommend Windows 7, which facilitates the installation of drivers, but also Windows 8, XP and Vista should work.
If you already have a version of the V5 Flash Tool you can use it, the download we have here is the one suggested directly by iOcean on their official website.
We also remind you that this type of procedure requires a little attention and common sense, because, although safe and already tested by us, they are still delicate operations. In case of doubt, I advise you to ask before proceeding.
Video: Update iOcean X8 via flash tool
In this video we will see the simple steps to follow to perform the actual flash, which require the files described above. The flash will erase everything you have on your smartphone, including all applications, so I recommend save your data before proceeding.
The procedure is therefore very simple. The result is close to the desired one, as most of the touchscreen problems have been solved, but some sporadic inaccuracy has occurred equally.
Following the update flash you may have to solve a small problem of the smartphone's internal memory, recognized as two partitions, one from 4GB and one from 1GB. To solve the problem, simply go in settings -> memory -> delete phone memory. This way the partition from 1GB will return to being the normal data partition from 24GB.
