The Chinese colleagues of zol.com they visited the Mediatek area of the Computex 2014, where the company showed a wide range of prototypes and interesting products. These include smartphone prototypes with 4G LTE connectivity, wearable devices, routers and more.
What immediately jumps to the eye among the products exhibited by Mediatek are the first smartphone prototypes with support for 4G LTE networks. We know that the next generation of company processors will represent the transition to 4G connectivity, but the presence of these products makes us hope that the wait will not be too long.
From the introductory panels of Mediatek we learn that the new SoC will guarantee, in addition to LTE 4G support, also support for Wifi, FM radio, GPS and Bluetooth. We also know that it will be an octa-core processor and will operate at 2.0 GHz clock.
Mediatek also showed speed tests of these prototypes, which from the image above seem to report a download speed of 105.27 Mbps, an upload speed of 30.21 Mbps and a latency of 38 ms. Obviously we do not know what kind of coverage there was in the premises hosting the COMPUTEX 2014, but the results seem encouraging.
From the images above we see instead that Mediatek is working on solutions for satellite navigators and routers. The news could be good for the company, as it would indicate a certain commitment in the direction of GPS navigation, which could also be useful in the realization of future SoC for smartphones.
The company also showed devices from various companies, such as Sony, Huawei, Lenovo and TCL (known in Europe as Alcatel), showing how the Taiwanese manufacturer's plans are not exclusively focused on emerging Chinese producers, but also on industry giants .
In the second picture we see the Alcatel Onetouch Idol X +, the first device to mount the MT6592 octacore chipset in the 2.0GHz variant. The presence of this smartphone shows how the company is not at all willing to leave this processor with the arrival of the next, but instead we could see new devices with the version from 2.0GHz.
But Mediatek's surprises are not over yet! From the images above we see how the company is ready to engage in the smart TV and wearable devices market as well. The smartwatch in question should be the Mediatek Aster MT2502.
The Taiwanese colossus therefore seems ready to strengthen its presence on all the main sectors of mobile technology and not, with solutions for many different products. Considering that the quality of Mediatek products greatly influences the quality of many Chinese smartphones, we can not but be happy with the growth of this company.
