Comparative photos: iOcean X8 and Galaxy Note 3

iOcean X8 and Galaxy Note 3

iOcean X8, the new phablet of the Chinese company iOcean, is a really interesting product, with a design and a build quality that immediately attract the attention of users.

In order to show the dimensions of this device, which with a 5.7-inch display are certainly not contained, we will see it in comparative photos with what many consider “the king of phablets”, or the Galaxy Note 3 from the Korean Samsung.

The two devices both have 5.7 inch displays, but are made of very different materials. In this comparison, we will not analyze the other hardware components of the two devices, nor the software, but we will see the comparison in terms of size and weight.

iOcean X8 and Galaxy Note 3

The dimensions of the Galaxy Note 3 are 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3 mm, while the dimensions of the iOcean X8 are 158 x 78 x 7.4 mm. The dimensions of the two devices are therefore not dissimilar, with a few millimeters of width less for the X8, which however has almost 6 mm more length. As you can see from the image above, the dimensional difference of the two phablets is really small. Yes, the iOcean X8 is just a little longer, but taking the two devices in hand the dimensions are almost the same.

What is most surprising is the weight of the two devices. The iOcean X8 weighs in fact 168 grams, while the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 weighs .. 168 grams! It must be said that the Note 3 also integrates the nib inside, but on the other hand the X8 is made of glass and aluminum and, as we have seen, it is also just longer!

Seeing the iOcean builders' commitment to building the X8 is a real treat for fans of Chinese technology. It is not surprising that Samsung manages to keep its size and weight contained, as we are talking about the first manufacturer in the world with a tradition of many years behind it. Instead, it surprises how a small company like iOcean, again poco known, manages to approach the results obtained by Samsung, also using precious materials such as glass and aluminum!
