Gionee has officially launched the Elife E7 mini with Oppo N1 rotating main camera in India for a few weeks, but since then we have not heard of it. Finally today we have the opportunity to see some first photos and a detailed description of the specifications.
Gionee is definitely learning very well from its competitors how to get attention. As Oppo, in fact, Gionee has decided to rely on devices with specific photographic advanced, as in the case of the 16 mega-pixel camera of the Gionee Elife E7.
While it is easy to point the finger at the Gionee Elife E7 mini claiming that the rotating camera is just a copy of the one on the Oppo N1, we can confirm that the first leaked photos of the device date back before the Oppo N1 launch.
Gionee Elife E7 Mini - Specifications
The Mini version of the Elife E7 is obviously equipped with lower hardware than its big brother. To begin with, the processor is a 1.7GHz Mediatek octacore chip, flanked by 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, 13 mega-pixel camera and a 4,7-inch 720p display. Obviously we can't compare the device to the Oppo N1, but for 1.800 yuan (297 dollars - about 217 euros) it's still a good deal.
Gionee Elife E7 Mini - Design
While the N1 is a rather large phone, Gionee has managed to create a more compact design for its smartphone with a rotating camera. Of course, the 4,7 inch display and narrow frames make it easy to handle the phone.
Like any modern Android smartphone, the Gionee Elife E7 mini is also equipped with touch-sensitive buttons to navigate the Amigo 2.0 Android ROM and of course the rotating camera that has a mega-pixel 13 sensor and a single LED flash.
As already pointed out we are not big fans of the back of the TOP RANGE Elife E7, but we like the very simple look of the Gionee Elife E7 Mini. The beautiful clean design with a matte finish looks decidedly more attractive than the polished Elife E7 finish.
The Elife E7 mini is constructed with a unibody finish with flat edges (similar to the Elife E6) and rounded ends (similar to those of the Huawei Ascend P6). In this picture we can see the double SIM tray located on the left side of the phone.
In addition to the rotating camera, the narrow body and elegant design, in fact, another great feature of the device is the dual SIM support. The single tray can be removed and a micro SIM and a standard SIM can be accommodated at the same time.
On the right side of the phone we find the power button and the volume keys. Personally I think this is the ideal position for these keys, especially considering the fact that they can be pressed with the thumb or the index finger. Therefore, Gionee's choice to place the "long" power button appears increasingly unjustified. Elif E6 on the upper edge ...
With the rotating camera occupying the entire top of the phone, both the micro USB input and the 3,5 mm jack for the earphones are located on the base.
Gionee Elife E7 Mini - launch
As mentioned above, we haven't heard much about the Gionee Elife E7 mini since the launch in India, but there are rumors that they are talking about a Gionee phone launch in China soon ... Will it be the Gionee Elife Mini?
We will keep an eye on the news and as soon as we can get our hands on the phone we will publish a full review!
