Mentra Mediatek showed clear signs of "getting closer" to Qualcomm with the launch of its new chipset 8-core MT6592, the latter responds with the launch of a new chipset low-cost, but with very interesting features: the Snapdragon 410!
This chipset (28nm) will be sent by Qualcomm to manufacturers in the first half of 2014 and we will be able to see it on the first smartphones in the second half of next year. The Snapdragon 410, despite its low-cost size, will be able to support 64-bit systems and will have built-in LTE support. Indeed, it is Qualcomm's stated intention to bring LTE to all product levels.
But the specification of the new Snapdragon 410 that most interests us is that of a likely support for dual SIM devices or even triple SIM! This, although implicit, is a clear sign of Qualcomm's opening towards those devices of the emerging markets (China) sold for less than 150 dollars, or towards the current undisputed realm of Mediatek!
The other Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 specifications include Adreno 306 GPUs, 1080p video playback, camera support up to 13 mega-pixels, GPS / GLONASS, Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth. The devices made with this new chipset will also be compatible with Android, Windows Phone and Firefox OS.
A clear Qualcomm attack on Mediatek in low-cost terrain? What do you think about it?
