Today, LG representatives have denied the news reported by the newspaper Korean Times, who spoke of a possible partnership between Huawei and LG in order to penetrate the entry-level segment. Questioned by the boys of The Verge, LG managers have categorically denied any form of agreement:
"There is no discussion now or in the past with Huawei on any aspects of LG Electronics' business"
The Korean Times, an organ to which rumors are attributed, had quoted the analyst of the American Sanford C. Bernstein, Mark C. Newman, according to whom "LG is considering the possibility of creating a joint venture with Huawei to revitalize the smartphone segment"... this hypothesis is not entirely inconceivable, considering and considering the disappointing results of LG in the main emerging markets, India and China for example.
Judging from what was said by The Verge, LG would be pretty firm in the decision not to engage in any partnership with Huawei. Although Mark Newman does not prove possible, the agreement would make sense; LG is in fact losing important market shares in the entry-level segment in the main emerging markets and an agreement with Huawei could prove to be an excellent strategy.
