Are you curious to know Xiaomi Hongmi, Xiaomi entry level smartphone? Well, here's a new video unboxing and hands-on, made for all of us by Andi! Let's see what he says about the cheapest Xiaomi smartphone!

I've always been attracted by the idea of having a Xiaomi Hognmi to test, but since a China Unicom version was not available I thought it was not worth it. However, after Xiaomi gave us this entry-level device, I realized it would be rude not to take a look at it.

Xiaomi Hongmi - Design

After having touched the new MI3 and knowing enough about MI2 and MI2A, I can tell you that this device, at least for the design, is positioned halfway between the "new and the old".

Looking at the front, it looks much more squared and edgier than the MI2 editions and much more similar to the new MI3.
The silver buttons on the dark gray body also make it look more like the new flagship.

The back side is similar to that of the MI2A with the camera positioned at the center and the LED flash just below; all in all a good arrangement.

Returning to the front of the device, we find a display from 4.7 inches and three fascinating buttons with red icons, positioned at the bottom, but not back-lit (as in the case of MI2 ..).

The 3.5mm jack is placed at the top while the microUSb port at the bottom, the power button and the volume control instead on the right side of the device. If you are already familiar with Xiaomi smartphones, everything is where you expect it to be.

A removable 2000 mAh battery, an SDcard reader and Dual-sim support slots are protected by a plastic shell.

As mentioned above, the Hongmi has a 4.7-inch IPS display, thus improving the angular viewing and 1280 × 720 HD resolution.

Xiaomi Hongmi - Specifications

At the top left of the large display we find the front camera from 1.3 mega-pixels while on the back is mounted a sensor of the Samsung from 8 mega-pixels. I have not had the opportunity to verify the quality, but the speed of use and the graphical interface of both is the same as Xiaomi Mi2 and MI2A.

Chinese smartphones of the same range would be equipped with 6589 Ghz quad-core Mediatek MT1,2 processors or even simpler and less powerful dual-core processors, but Xiaomi has gone further, equipping Hongmi with 6589 Mediatek MT1,5TT quad-core processor Ghz ...
No, the double T is not a typo: the first is for Turbo and the second stands for TD-SCDMA (China MObile 3G).Xiaomi Hongmi Red Rice

There is 1GB of RAM to help the processor. Also present 4GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot from 32GB.
They conclude the specifications GPS, AGPS, FM radio, Bluetooth, 3,5mm jack for earphones, 2000 mAh battery and OTG support.

MIUI V5

A Xiaomi is not a Xiaomi without MIUI ROM… Hongmi has its latest version V5, based on OS Android 4.2.1 JB.
MIUI is a beautifully modified version of Android and has some excellent features including: HDR photos, mod photos. Panorama, HD video capture, MICloud (cloud storage), Game Center, Xiaomi app-store and much more!
Xiaomi Hongmi, like any other Xiaomi device, does not come with the PlayStore or any other Google app, but their installation couldn't be easier thanks to an app available in the Xiaomi app-store.
